Margie Louise Johnson, 72, of Temple, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at East Highway Baptist Church in Temple on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00PM with Ernest Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Davilla Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple.
Margie was born in Davilla, Texas, to the late James D. and Lillian M. (Harp) Cargill. She married Jesse F. Johnson, Sr. on July 16, 1956, in Tyler, TX. She has lived in Temple for 36 years. Margie is a member of East Highway Baptist Church. She is Phi Beta Kappa at Temple College, Mary Harden Baylor, and University of Texas in Tyler. Margie taught Computer Science at Temple Jr. College for 21 years.
She is preceded in death by a grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse; son, Jesse F. Johnson, Jr. and wife, Janice, of Temple; daughter, Tamara Pittman, also of Temple; grandchildren, Krystal Cole, Daniel Ryan Pittman, Tyler Pittman, Jesse F. Johnson III, Jennifer Olszowka, and David Cole; great-grandchild, Evangeline Cole; brother, J.D. Cargill, of Davilla; sisters, May Dell Watson, of Davilla, and Billie F. Ritter, of Killeen; as well as many other relatives and friends.
