Jody Lee Bailey, age 53, 145 Morris Road, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Sunday morning, August 19, 2012, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County,
a son of Harold Bailey, Erwin and the late Melba Louise Street Bailey.
Jody was a former longtime mechanic with S.C. Whitson Garage and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of VFW Post # 5809 and Moose Lodge # 22.
Jody was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
Other than his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Joe and Ida Bailey, Vee and Rosa Street, and by his father-in-law: Robert Lee Collins.
Other then his father, Jody is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda Collins Bailey; one son: Robert Harold Bailey; one daughter: Melba Rosalee Bailey and fiance: James O'Dell, Johnson City; two grandsons: Lewis Lee Bailey Rice and James Lee O'Dell, Johnson City; one brother: Buster Vee Bailey and fiancee, Amanda Moffitt, Erwin; one sister: Melba Bailey and fiance, James Tester, Gray; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; mother-in-law: Hannah Collins, Johnson City and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral service for Jody Bailey will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Willy Morrow will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Bailey, James O'Dell, Randall Willis, Buster Bailey, Dwayne Rice, Mark Joyner, and Lance King.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Jody's brother, Buster, 109 Triangle B Drive, Martin's Creek Community, Erwin.
The committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Garland Cemetery, Buladean, North Carolina. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
