Trooper Ralph B Brown, New York State Police, enlisted 2 July 1917; died 28 Jan. 1920.
Trooper RB Brown was one of the original "camp men" at "Camp Newayo" when the NYSP was formed in Manlius, NY, the summer of 1917.

Their first assignment in 1917, was police the New York State Fair that summer.
Then he was assigned to Troop D.

When the NYSP was formed, men enlisted for 2 years service, some reenlisted, many resigned and/or were drafted in the military. At that time World War I was going on in Europe, most of the Troopers submitted WWI draft registration cards, believing they wouldn't be drafted by joining the NYSP. Not true, vast majority were drafted.

Tpr. RB Brown apparently died while still with the NYSP, date of death and date of separation are the same, aged 27, unknown cause of death, back in the 1920's men enlisted for 2 years, Troopers worked 29 straight days, and 24 hour work day.
