Steven E. Tucker, 53, Sandusky, lost his nine-month battle with Lymphoma Sunday morning, August 19, 2012, surrounded by family at his mother's home.

He was born in Sandusky on August 16, 1959, and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1977. After graduation, he entered the United States Navy, earning various certifications in electronics and nuclear power. He attended Terra State Community College in Fremont, earning additional proficiency certifications related to electronics, and graduated with honors from Westwood College of Aviation Technology, Houston, in 2003, where he was recognized for his achievement in earning the highest class GPA.

Steve was employed with Cedar Point, Baywinds Athletic Club, Sandusky; EPCO, Fremont; Amber Milling Co., Huron; and Southwest Airlines and Lockheed-Martin, Texas. Since 2003, Steven was employed as a mechanic with Defense Support Services LLC, performing inspections and maintenance on Blackhawk helicopters. He was recognized by the Knighthawk Battalion Commander for his hard work in preparation for Operation Iraqi Freedom 2007-2009. During his employment with Defense Support Services LLC, Steve worked at Hunter Army Airfield-Fort Stewart in Savannah, Ga., Fort Drum in Watertown, N.Y., and more recently, Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

He was a loving son, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Steve is survived by his mother, Carol Ann Dee, Sandusky; brother, Monte Tucker, Sandusky; two sisters, Dee Conti, Sandusky and Nancy (Dave) Roth, Fremont; nieces and nephews, Jon (Jenna) and Bethany Conti, and Rob and Brooke Roth; grandmother, Evaden Dee; step mother, Phyllis Tucker; numerous cousins, other family members, and good friends, including longtime best friends, Randy Ruthsatz, Craig Ruthsatz, TJ Edens, and Rich Castillo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Monte L. Tucker Sr., on September 3, 2011; niece, Nicole Conti, in 1990; maternal grandfather, John B. Dee, and paternal grandparents, Earl Tucker and Eva (Jim) Smith.

Friends will be received 4–8 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Joe Steinbauer officiating and Rev. Jacob Gordon of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont, co-officiating. Military services provided by the American Legion Honor Guard and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
