Mary Schafenacher Stahl was born in Pittsburg, PA, in 1834 to Thomas and Eva Schafenacher. Her parents emigrated in 1830 from Germany, and lived in Pittsburg for about fourteen years. They moved to Ohio about 1844. Her siblings were: Catherine, Christopher, Rachel, Emma, Rosanna, William and John.

In 1853, Mary married Christian Stahl, son of John Stahl, Jr. and Christiana Beard. Mary and Christian had six children: Thomas, John, James, Malinda, Mary and Christopher.

She and Christian lived on their productive and comfortable farm in Green for many years. They were consistent members of the Swedenborgian church. In their latter years, they lived with their daughter Malinda and son-in-law Addison Coy. (PF)

Washingtonville - Mrs. Christian Stahl died Sunday at the home of her daughter in Salem. She was in her 84th year. In her younger days, she was a resident of this vicinity, and a sister of John Schaffenocker of this place.
