Lee J. Knause 74, of Little Mexico Road, passed away at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Jackson Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Albert D. and Hattie P. (Hollenbach) Knause. On June 8, 1958, he married the former Faye Lou Kratzer who survives.

He was a 1954 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1954 to 1960 when he was discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Lee was a farmer and served as a rural letter carrier for 30 years out of the Selinsgrove Post Office. He also drove school bus for many years for Curt Fetzer, and operated stands at the Lewisburg and Sunbury farmers markets.

He was a member of Zion Church of Kratzerville for over 50 years, where he served on the cemetery board, a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 194, Selinsgrove, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, a life member of the Kratzerville Volunteer Fire Co., a member of the Middlecreek Antique Assoc., past president of the Rural Letter Carriers Assoc. of the S.U.N. area, and the Travelers Protective Assoc., and a past member of the Nittany Antique Assoc.

Lee loved farming, family picnics, and camping with his family and friends. He was always there to help others.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by one son, Allen L. Knause, of Selinsgrove and his girlfriend Darlene Graybill, of Richfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda L. and Harry W. Ross Jr., of Selinsgrove; two grandchildren, his pride, Jacob A. Ross and his joy, Janelle A. Ross; one brother, Roy A. Knause; two sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Bertha Knause, formerly of New Berlin, Eleanor Lepley and husband Charles, of Pataskala, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mary Kieffer and husband Randy, of Litiz, and special nephew, Terry Knause and wife Linda, and their son, Daniel, of Greer, S.C.; and numerous cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray C. Knause; one sister-in-law, Arla Knause; his adopted grandmothers, Nettie and Lydia Klingler; father and mother-in-law, Mervin and Mary Maurer; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Ira Rebuck.

Visitors will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, with his nephew, the Rev. Daniel Cluck officiating.

Burial with military honors accorded by American Legion Victory Post 25 and VF.W. Post 6631 will be conducted in New Berlin Cemetery.
