Mr. Kenneth E. Koser, age 81, of Roswell, died Friday, January 21, 2005 while visiting family in Phoenix, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 51 years, Doris Elizabeth (Durham) Koser of Roswell. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and his life is also celebrated by his sons,Kenneth A. Koser and his wife, Karin Pendley Koser of Decatur, James Koser and his wife, Kathleen Grogan Koser of Norcross, Michael Koser and his wife, Deborah Scott Koser of Phoenix, Arizona; and daughter, Kathleen Koser LaBrec and her husband, Alan LaBrec of Tyrone, Georgia; grandchildren, Carson Koser of Decatur, Alex and Ryan Koser of Norcross, Kyle and Alli Koser of Phoenix, Arizona, and Brian LaBrec of Tyrone, Georgia; and many other friends and relatives throughtout the United States.

Born in 1923 as the middle son of three children of Leo and Mildred Koser in West Allis, Wisconsin, he was accepted as an Army Air Corps Cadet during World War II and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He later served with distinction with the Eight Air Force based out of England, where he piloted his B-17 for 25 missions over targets in Europe and won many commendations including the Bronze Star and the Air Medal.

After his military service he joined Eastern Airlines as a co-pilot on DC-3's and flew a wide variety of aircraft including the Lockheed Constellation, the Boeing 727 and finally retiring after 32 years with the airlines as a captain of an A-300 Airbus. His primary base during his career was at O'Hare Airport in suburban Chicago, and all four of his children were born in the Chicago area.

He had very fond memories in particular of his time spent on Douglas Street in Arlington Heights, Illinois and the wonderful life-long friends that he and his family made there.

After moving to the Atlanta area in 1979, he and his wife, Doris eventually settled into the Brookfield West Community where once again strong friendships were made, and he loved his time spent playing golf there.

Ken was a friend to everyone that he met and was always willing to help anyone who asked.

A celebration of his life and memorial Mass will be held Friday, January 28, 2005 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Chanel Church. The church is located at 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, GA, 30075. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Peter Chanel Bulding Fund. Published in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on January 27, 2005
