Son of William Darwin and Celia Fennel Darwin of Trinity, Morgan County, Alabama. A graduate of the University of Virginia, he married first, Sarah Pickett in 1858 and fathered five children. After her death he married Sarah Harrison, a cousin of President Benjamin Harrison. His second marriage produced five children. He migrated with his family to Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas, in the late 1870s. After the death of his mother in 1882, he moved his family to Bellingham, Washington. Sallie Harrison Darwin and several of their children are interred at the Bellview Cemetery in Bellingham. After Sallie Harrison's death in 1911, he returned to Alabama to make his home and died in Madison County in 1917.
