Son of Richard Womack III and Nancy Ann Childers of Richmond GA.

Married Mildred Pryor, born 1750 Orange Co NC, died before 1803 Beaufort District, SC, buried Beaufort SC.

I am reminding everyone that the records of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) are not proof of anything. They are what the informant perceived. The Waco, TX Henry Downs Chapter of NSDAR suggests "a" David Womack's service was in North Carolina. Was this Mildred Pryor's husband or was this Revolutionary War soldier Jacob Womack's son, David Womack, who was my 4th great-grandfather? As a Captain, Jacob and his son, Pvt. Jesse Womack fought in the August 1776 Cherokee Expedition of the Revolutionary War.

As per professional genealogist and a genealogy instructor of Winnfield, Winn Parish LA, Annette Carpenter Womack, Richard Womack and Ann "Nancy" Childress' (Childers) son, David Womack was born 1735 in Henrico Co., VA.

In September of 1761 in Orange Co., NC (now Caswell Co.), David married Mildred Pryor, daughter of John Henry Pryor and Margaret Gaines.

David and Mildred's son, John H. Womack was born ca. 1768 in present-day Caswell Co., NC and died 24 Dec 1824 in Saint Helena Parish, LA. He married Mary Dargan, daughter of the former Catherine Strother and William Dargan, who has probate records in Jackson Co., GA in 1808. John H. Womack and Mary Dargan moved to Louisiana after her father's death.

David Womack's land record of 200 acres in Burke Co., GA is dated 27 Aug 1793. It was certified 4 Jan 1794. He and his brother, John Womack were chain carriers.

David also has a land record for 100 acres in Burke Co., GA, and the warrant is dated 3 Mar 1792. At his age and in this particular era, it's doubtful he could make the 657-mile trip to St. Helena Parish, LA, where some think he died in 1804. The 1804 death date originated when Womack researchers thought he died in Beaufort, SC in 1804.

In the book, "St. Helena Parish Cemeteries, 1914-1987", there is no David Womack listed. These Womacks are listed:
