ANNOUNCE MARRIAGE OF DAUGHTER

CEREMONY PERFORMED IN LEWISTON, ILL., ON DECEMBER 25th

Millerstown, Feb. 8. - Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Baker, of Millerstown, R. D., announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Esther Vivian Baker, to Dickson Trowbridge Ulsh, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ulsh, of Landisburg. The young couple were married on Christmas Day, December 25th, 1943, at Lewiston, Illinois, by the Rev. Bahr. The double ring ceremony was used and witnessed by three of their soldier friends and their wives, including Captain Hosty. The happy couple were taken to the minister by their friends in a jeep.

Mrs. Ulsh was attirde (sic) in a beautiful cadet blue suit with accessories to match. Her corsage was of while rosebuds.

After the ceremony that (sic) newlyweds were given a dinner by their friends.

Mrs. Ulsh is a graduate of the Newport High School and is now a clerk in Steinberg's Store at Newport.

Mr. Ulsh, before being inducted into the army, was employed at the Bethlehem Steel Plant at Steelton. He attended the Landisburg High School and graduated with honors from the Commercial Trades Institute, Bloomington, Ill., and is now serving as a refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanic somewhere in England. He has been in the army one year, going on Jauary (sic) 30th, 1943. Mrs. Ulsh spent one month with her husband at Camp Ellis, Ill., before he sailed for England.

The young couple are well known and their many friends wish them happiness and success.

E. Vivian Ulsh, 80, of Elliottsburg died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Holy Spirit Hospital Camp Hill.

Born Feb. 25, 1924, in Millerstown, she was the daughter of Melvin Roy and Ethel Coredith Little Baker.

Mrs. Ulsh was a 1943 graduate of Newport High School and enjoyed flowers, gardening, and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dickson T. "Dick" Ulsh; a son; Edward M. Ulsh of Elliottsburg; two daughters, Molly Gray of Loysville and Beth R. Weiner of New Bloomfield; a brother, Jay Baker of Georgia; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ulsh was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Baker, Jr. and Earl Baker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial will be in Landisburg Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
