Marian Hunter, age 83, of rural Underwood, died Thursday, August 17, 2012, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

Marian Arlys Johnson was born January 11, 1929 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Olaf W. and Susan (Pederson) Johnson. She was raised on the home farm near Underwood, attended school locally, and graduated from Underwood High School.

Marian went on to attend nurse's training in Fargo and Chicago, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse. While working as head nurse of the Geriatrics Unit at Fergus Falls Mental Hospital, she met and married Rubel J. Lucero in 1952. Marian and Rubel had two children: Judith in 1953 and Steven in 1956.

Throughout Marian's career, she worked as a nurse in Willmar, Minneapolis, and in Coon Rapids. In 1972, she and David L. Hunter were married. In 1979, Marian and David moved to the family farm near Underwood, where Marian cared for her mother.

Marian had many hobbies through life, including knitting, Hardanger, needlework, sewing, gardening and reading. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake, especially with the Stephen Ministry, so her lifetime of caring for others continued throughout her retirement.
