Susan Bishop was born in Devonshire England Nov 9 1838, where she lived for 18 years when her parents brought their family to the United States and settled in Brandon township July 15 1857 she was united in marriage to James Van Wagoner to whom were born four children. In 1906 they went to live with their daughter Rosetta Sand and the next summer celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Van Wagoner passed away the following February, his wife surviving him six years, departing this life March 4, 1914.
She is survived by two children, four grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, who with a host of friends will miss her much, for who was always so ready to sympathize that these words express her life. (Oxford Leader, 18 Mar 1914)
