Allen William Klinger, born Nov 9th 1948. Allen was called to heaven on Aug 9th, 2012. He passed away surrounded by family and friends at his shore house at the age of 62. Al was married to the love of his life and best friend, Kathy Klinger (Norkis) for 41 wonderful years, together they have 4 daughters, 4 grandchildren and 1 grandchild on the way. He was STG 3 Sonar Technician in the Us Navy from 1969-1973 on the Ship the Harry E Yarnell. After leaving the Navy, he worked in the finance business for almost 40 years, and just recently began working at Echo Farms Campground. Al is predeceased by his mother (Eleanor Powell Klinger), father (William Homer Klinger), brother (Paul S. Klinger). He leaves behind the love of his life, Kathy, his 4 daughters Michele Potts (John), Cynthia Klinger (Allen) Danielle Klinger, Katie Klinger (Dominic), 5 grandchildren Jonathan, Jason, Camryn, Brandon, Trevor and his brother and sisters, Jeanette (Klinger) Lennox (Carl), Janice (Klinger), Moore (Rev. Chris Moore), and William Klinger (Sharon). He was highly involved in the community including being a member of the WDHS Board of Education, coaching his girls' sports teams, and even becoming president of the softball league. He could always be seen on the sidelines of his daughters' sports teams from elementary through high school, barely missing a game, even though he had 4 daughters each playing on 4 different teams. Al loved his family, fishing and crabbing, his camping friends, bowling every Thursday with his wife and spending time at his summer home with his shore family, at Echo Farms Campground. He could always be seen helping someone at the campground with his big smile. At home you could often find Al working outside in his workshop, most recently making his granddaughter a beautiful dollhouse for Christmas. He loved woodworking, although sometimes the power tools did not love him back... having multiple issues with his fingers and the power tools. Al will be remembered as being a wonderful husband, an amazing father, and a great friend to many, but most of all he was the best Pop Pop! A celebration of his life will be held at The American Legion VFW in Woodbury, NJ on Mon Aug 13th from 2-6pm. Prayer Service will be held at 2:30pm, followed by a remembrance of his life In lieu of flowers please donations to Holy Redeemer Hospice. Special Thanks to Michael Riley and the Hillsborough Funeral Home in Hillsboro, NJ. - Published in Gloucester County Times (NJ) 8/12/2012.
