He laid the cornerstone of the Middle Dutch Church in AD 1656

He was a prominent businessman and land owner in Beverwick (Fort Orange, then Albany, New York). He was active in the Reformed Dutch Church and was one of those instrumental in the building of Middle Dutch Church on State Street in Albany. He died a very wealthy man as can be seen from the proceeds of the public sale of his household goods and gold and silver items.
