Hazel Lou "Granny" Phelps passed away Dec. 15, 2005 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village. Mrs. Phelps was born April 14, 1921 to Mr. and Mrs. Grady Poarch. Mrs. Phelps was a homemaker who loved cooking, shopping, going dancing and always had a juicy story to tell. Your favorite treat, the arm of her recliner that you never out grew and the coolest front porch was always waiting when you visited. Our life's tapestry is woven with wonderful memories of the best mother and granny you could ever have. The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband James T. Phelps, brothers "Bogie" and Jack Poarch, grandson Steve DeMoss and daughter-in-law Zoe DeMoss.

She is survived by a sister Cricket Tinker of Friendswood; sister-in-law Jewel Poarch of Corsicana; sons Larry DeMoss and wife Pat of Corsicana, Billy Don DeMoss and wife Martha of Corsicana and Grady DeMoss of Alta Loma, Calif.; granddaughters Cathy Garrett and husband Ronnie of Dawson, and Alana Shull and husband Jim of Alta Loma, Calif.; grandsons Joey DeMoss of Dallas and David DeMoss of Oklahoma; great-grandchildren Chat, Joshua, Lyndsi and Chasity DeMoss, Brent, Lynney and Shea Shull, and Crystal DeMoss and husband Billy; and great-great-grandchild Raylea Weverka; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
