Retired Ensign Farmer Is Taken By Death Here
Bartol Stemac, 83 year old retired farmer of Ensign, died last night (Saturday, December 22, 1945) at 8:20 o'clock at St Francis hospital from complications brought on by old age. He had been ill for seven weeks.
The deceased was born in Yugoslavia and came to Ensign in 1915, engaging in farming until his retirement five years ago.
He was a member of St Charles church of Rapid River.
Six children, 28 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren survive. The body was taken to the Allo funeral home, arrangements will be completed today.

BARTOL STEMAC
The body of Bartol Stemac will be removed to the family home at Ensign this morning at 11 o'clock from the Allo funeral home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday (December 26, 1945) at St Charles Church, Rapid River, Rev. Fr. Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Rapid River cemetery.

Bartol died 3 days before Christmas, and was brought to the family home on the 24th for a wake? He stayed at the family home until the morning of the 26 and then the funeral service and internment occurred. What a way to spend Christmas.
The six surviving children were: John Stimac, Emily Stimac Kovac, Slava Stimac Mauhar, Mary Stimac Pajnich, Pauline Stimac Wolf and Steven Stimac.
The 28 surviving grandchildren were:
John's children: John and Joe
Emily's children: Mary, Lily, John, Joseph, Josephine, and Frank
Slava's children: Antone, John, Anne, Stephanie, Matthew, Mary, Emma, William and Emil
Mary's children: Anna, Joseph and William
Pauline's children: Joseph, Blash, Victor, John, and Peter
Steven's children: William and Helen
and one grandchild I am not aware of.
The 10 great grandchildren were:
Caroline Lapuszewski, daughter of Stephanie Mauhar, daughter of Slava
Mary and Buddy Locknar, children of Mary Kovac, daughter of Emily
The other seven children are unknown to me.
