Nondas Benzenbauer was the youngest of the children born to Charles and Amanda Spicher. She was a triplet. Nondas Hester, Norma Esther, and Norman Chester were the last children born to the couple. All three survived at birth, but the other two died in infancy. Nondas was the only one of several brother and sisters to have children. She was the mother of six children. She had one mentally handicapped child that she kept at home until she was placed in a group home facility in her fifties. Nondas was a homemaker her entire life and never worked outside of the home. She grew and canned fruits and vegetables for her family on their farm in Anderson, Indiana.
