LEXINGTON — Services for Harold Dodd Hammett of Lexington were at 12:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Lexington.
Mr. Hammett, 74, died of cardiorespiratory arrest on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Lexington on June 2, 1938. He was a Mid-West and Borden's sales representative in Holmes County for more than 30 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and storyteller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolph and Virgie Hammett.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosemary Frost Hammett; four daughters, Sherry Hammett and Karen Harthcock, both of Brandon, Dayna Nelson of Yazoo City and Terri O'Reilly of Ebenezer; two brothers, Richard Hammett and Robert Hammett, both of Lexington; eight sisters, Ruth Murtagh of Pickens, Libby Dittmar of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Flossie Goode of Madison, Brenda Adams and Dell Tubbs, both of Brandon, Sheila Hammett and Tammy Courts, both of Lexington, and Notie Turner of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at Southern Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dean Dittmar, Johnny Murtagh, Rich Hammett, Hal Hammett, Dan Hart, Chad Adams, Chase Hammett and Ben Courts.
Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Murtagh, Damon Dittmar, Dodd Turner, Jim Turner, Chip Tubbs and Jon Hammett.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
