Nellie Stafford
Nellie Loveland daughter of John and Maria Loveland, was born March 12, 1865, in the state of Indiana, and died August 16, 1958, at the age of 93.
When she was six years of age, she came with her parents to Kansas, and settled in Republic County, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She attended school at Chester, Neb., Beatrice and Lincoln, Neb., her mother spending the short school year with her at each place.
She was united in marriage to Norman Edward Stafford, October 1884. Four sons came to bless their home, one died in infancy. Frank Allen who died December 8, 1947; Floyd L. who died in march of 1948, and William (sic) P. Stafford now of Republic.
She was a member of the First Methodist church of Belleville. She joined the Methodist church early in life. She was a devoted servant of the church, a regular student of the Bible and other church literature.
She loved to do needle work of all types, and was very skillful in this creaft. She made many beautiful quilts and other products of her craft, some of which are still in use among relatives and friends.
She leaves to mourn her death, besides her one living son, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many other close relatives and friends.
Funeral services was conducted by the Rev. D. N. McAllister in the First Methodist church in Belleville August 19, at 10 o'clock and interment was made in Washington cemetery near Republic.
