Vickie Lavonne Chandler Haynes, 35, of 636 Stevens St., Apt. M, died Wednesday from injuries sustained in an automobile wreck. She was thrown from her overturning 1974 Triumph convertible sports car on Union Road while traveling north in the 2200 block. The car ran off the right side of the road, then veered back across the road and ran off the left side before overturning. She was thrown clear, but pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt and excessive speed could have been a factor in the wreck.

She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Royal George Chandler and of Pauline Burke Chandler, and was a member of Ranlo Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Misty Dawn Haynes and Lisa Michelle Yount; mother Pauline Burke Chandler of Gastonia; sister Mary Jean Chandler of Raleigh; half brother Wesley Chandler, of Gastonia; and maternal grandmother, Mary Burke of Gastonia.
