From the Austin Daily Herald, April 5, 1985:

Goldie A. Hanson was born Feb. 25, 1900 in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minn., the daughter of Andrew and Johanna Jacobson.

She attended Nevada Township Country School, Lyle High School, Winona Teachers College. She resided at Rose Creek, Minn., until 1920, when she moved to rural Stacyville, Iowa, where she lived until 1942, and then moved to Adams, Minn. In 1983, she moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home, Austin, Minn.

Her marriage to Charles G. Hanson took place in 1920, at her home in Nevada Township. She was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, circles and ALCW and the Adams American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a past president.

Mrs. Hanson died at 2:15 a.m. March 30, 1985, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Lee Robinson, Tonasket, Wash.; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Virginia Hanson, Southgate, CA, Robert and Ramona Hanson, Adams, James and Mary Hanson, Fremont, Nebraska, Larry and Shirley Hanson, Austin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold and Johanna Jacobson, Austin, Oliver and Myra Jacobson, Austin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lulu and George Fossey, Lyle, Harriet and Erling Hanson, Austin, Ruby and Clifford Mayzlik, Austin, Nona and Gordon Meinke, Crystal, MN; 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; a brother.

Funeral services were held on April 2, 1985 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, the Rev. Allen Gunderson officiating. Charlotte Anderson was organist. Interment was in the Stacyville Cemetery, Stacyville, Iowa, with pallbearers, Douglas Hanson, Jay Hanson, Kelly Hanson, Reed Hanson, Ronald Hanson, Michael Uher. Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Goldie Hanson, eldest daughter of eight children, was born to Andrew and Johanna Jacobson, February 25, 1900, near Rose Creek. She was baptized and confirmed at Six Mile Grove Church. After graduation from high school at Lyle, she attended Winona State College. She became the bride of Charles Gilman Hanson on February 5, 1920. Five children were born to them: Irene Robinson, Tonasket, Washington; Richard, Long Beach, California; Bob, Adams; James, Fremont, Nebraska; Larry, Austin. She has 15 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Goldie and Charles lived on a farm in Mitchell County, Iowa, until March of 1942, when the family moved to a farm southwest of Adams. In that same month Charles passed away without ever having lived on the Minnesota farm. Goldie and family continued to live there, Bob assisting her with the farming operation. Later she moved into Adams.

She has been an active church member, as well as an active volunteer in the community. Her family and friends have enjoyed her optimism and drawn strength from her courage.

Presently she is living at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.

"Beautiful Savior" is one of her favorite hymns and John 3:16 a precious portion of Scripture.
