. Gerald Clarence Dean, 81, of 39395 Mercer Ave. Leary, GA. died at Willson Hospice House on Saturday August 18, 2012. Funeral service will be Tuesday August 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM from Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with Rev. Tom Moore and Betty Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Edison, GA. with Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Monday evening August 20, 2012 from 7-9:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.

Mr. Dean was born December 7, 1931 to the late Henry Dean and Alice Johnston in Milford, GA. He was a retired farmer, Mayor of Leary for 16 years and a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Dean of Leary, GA., two daughters Paula Dean of Opelika, Ala., and Susan VanOstenbridge of Bradenton, Fl.; two sons Jerry Dean and his wife Diana of Georgetown, GA., and Jason Dean and his wife Stephanie of Washington, D.C; two step-sons Charles Thornton and his wife Elaine of Colorado Springs, CO., Roger Michael Thornton and his wife Heather of Leesburg, GA., one brother Howell Rufus Dean and his wife Joan of Valrico, Fl., nine grandchildren and one great-grandchildren also survive.
