MRS. I. J. SMITH DIES - MRS. I. J. SMITH, pioneer resident of Birmingham, died at her home Monday night after a long illness. MRS. SMITH, who was the former MISS JERUSHA ANNE MIDDLETON, of Fayette County, was twice married, first to J. S. HANKINS and after the death of her first husband, married I. J. SMITH in 1885.
MRS. SMITH is survived by her husband; three daughters, MRS. B. E. POORE, MRS. J. A. THOMAS, and MRS. M. M. DURANT; and five sons, DR. J. M. HANKINS, DR. J. CLEMENT SMITH, DR. GREENE SMITH, DR. T. L. SMITH and ROY SMITH, one sister, MRS. M. F. DENMAN, of Stuttgart, Arkansas; 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sixty-Sixth Street Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
