Mrs. Martha Alexander died Thursday morning at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Ben Bull, upper Spring street, at the age of 70 years. Deceased had lived in this city during nearly the whole of her life. Her husband was, many years ago, the proprietor of the DePauw House, afterward the Occidental Hotel, on Main street. She was a member of the Central Christian church, and lived a consistent Christian life. Three children are left to mourn her death. They are Mrs. O. Sackett, and Mrs. Ben Bull, of this city, and Mrs. B. McConnell, of Louisville. - New Albany Public Press 21 May 1890
