Enos Baker, son of Bowling Green and Mary "polly' Jane Smith Baker, first husband of Martha Stone, served in the Civil War. He moved from Campbell Co, TN to Taney Co, MO, with his parnts and siblings, before 1850. In 1851, Taney County became Stone Co, MO. He was a farmer in Stone Co, MO when, on June 10, 1861, he enlisted in Captain Clemial Davis' Company of the Missouri Home Guards, Union side. He served five months until the unit disbanded in November 1861. He contracted pneumonia in Springfield, Greene Co, MO, in the line of duty and, after walking from St. Louis to his home in Stone County, he died a few hours later. He was buried in Pompel Place Cemetery, Stone Co, Mo. This Cemetery has been destroyed and lies below someone's garden.
