Thomas Harlin Young was the third child of Jesse Jiles Young (1845-1922) and Mary A. Lippard (1855-1940) and was born in Hamilton, Texas. He married Emma Bell Temples on Nov. 20, 1910, in Hamilton, Texas. They had four children: Gladys I Young Sager (1912-2002), Jesse Young (b. 1915), Lillian Louise Young (b. 1916) and Thomas H. Young, Jr. (b. 1919). He was a carpenter and farmer.
