Major League Baseball Player. He played catcher for the 1919 World Champion Cincinnati Reds. His brother, Absolom Wingo, was also a Major Leaguer. Ivey Wingo held the Major League record for games caught (1327) at the time of his retirement. The record stood for over 30 years. He played for 17 seasons starting in 1911 and ending in 1929. He finished his career with a lifetime batting average of .260, including 4,003 at bats, 1,039 hits, 147 doubles, 81 triples, 25 homeruns, 455 rbi's and 87 stolen bases.
