Mrs. Vernice Whittington Eller, age 96, of Millers Creek died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 PM, August 18, 2012 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Pastor Joey Moore and Rev. Paul Hugger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Church prior to the service.
Mrs. Eller was born September 14, 1915 in Wilkes County to John C. and Etta Kilby Whittington. Vernice was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Millers Creek and was retired from Roses. She was married to the late Hensley Eller for more than 55 years. Vernice was a dedicated wife and mother of two daughters, Carolyn Eller Miller and Patty Eller Pierce.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Grant Whittington, Andrew Whittington and Rex Whittington.
She is survived by: two daughters, Carolyn Miller and husband, Carl, Patty Pierce and husband Jim all of Millers Creek; four grandchildren, Teresa Miller of Millers Creek, Robin Pierce of Wilkesboro, Randy Pierce of Boston, Mass, Natalie P. Tribble and husband Brennis of Wilkesboro; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Roten of Aurora, Colorado, Brianna Roten of Wilkesboro; Jaxson Tribble of Wilkesboro and a sister, Grace whittington of Miller Creek.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 735 Pleasant Home Church Road, Millers Creek, NC 28651.
