SISTER MARY ROMILDA, 90
Kentucky native served 70 years in Sisters of Notre Dame
Sister Mary Romilda, of Sisters of Notre Dame, formerly Suzanne Bertsch, 90, died Friday in St. Joseph Heights Convent Infirmary, Covington.
A Native of Cold Spring, Ky., Sister Romilda entered the congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame in February, 1915, and made her first vows in July, 1917. She taught in a number of schools in the Covington Diocese, the Cincinnati Archdiocese, and in Winnebago, Neb.
She also taught at the Holy Trinity School in Harlan, Ky., said Sister Janita, Sister of Notre Dame, at St. Joseph's.
Sister Romilda, who has resided at the St. Joseph Heights Provincial House since 1974, celebrated her 70th year in the religious profession last Saturday.
She did very well with children, and was a very good instructor, said Sister Janita. "The children loved her."
"Sister Mary Romilda always had a smile on her face," A person could always feel at home around Sister Mary, Sister Janita said.
