It is not proven that William Stilson is buried here. But this is where he died and the first burial was in 1827. He should be buried in the old part of the cemetery. Research needs to be done.

There is no record at the cemetery to show this individual is buried at JB National Cemetery. Just because he lived in St Louis did not mean that he was buried at JB. A lot of soldiers were interred at the old Wesleyan Cemetery and then they were disinterred and reinterred at JB. The only problem with this is that there were no headstones to reflect who was in what grave, so they were interred as Unknown Soldiers. Randy Watkins
