Irene Sherrell was born at Winona, Missouri on September 29, 1904 to Jon Wesley Martin and Nora Ellen (Honeycutt) Martin. She passed away on January 9, 2005 at Birch View Nursing Center in Birch Tree, Missouri, making her age 100 years.
She was married to Lon Sherrell on September 10, 1921 and to this union three daughters were born.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, an infant daughter, two grandchildren, two son in laws,and seven sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Elzada Williams of Eminence, Missouri, one brother Churchill Martin, three sisters, Getta Ernst, Jaunita Gregory, and Kathryn Buley, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and a host of friends and loved ones.
Irene was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eminence, and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Irene was a wonderful person. She was an excellent cook, housekeeper, and seamstress. She has made many quilts and other handiwork and everyone that visited her, left with something that she had made.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence, Missouri with James Doyle officiating. Interment followed at grassy Hollow Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home.
