Barbara was born in Scotland in 1747, the daughter of William Grant (1725 – ) and Ann Grant. Mother's maiden name unknown.

Barbara Grant (1747 – 1808) married Matthias Sivey (1738-1805) in 1765 in Virginia. Matthias Sivey was born 1738 in Frederick, Dunmore, Virginia, United States. Don't know the name of his parents.

Smith late Sivey, Eliza Motts late Sivey, Madelene Coffman, late Sivey, Susanna Basler late Sivey, John Sivey, Jacob Sivey, Matthias Sivey, George Sivey and Christina Shouman, late Sivey are children and heirs of Matthias Sivey, dec. and it is ordered to be certified.

I believe this was probably a trip the family took to the European countries after their arrival in the USA and after they were already citizens of this country.
