Lieut. Charles G. Griffey Previously Reported Missing

Lieut. Charles Griffey Fuller, 23 years old, 5614 Lydia avenue, was killed in an air raid over Bremen, Germany, October 8, according to information received by his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Fuller, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Fuller, 2216 East Seventy-third street.
Previously listed as missing, Lieutenant Fuller was on his eigth mission as a bombardier on the Flying Fortress 'Flak-Happy.' He was agraduate from Blenheim and Paseo high school. In high school he played end on the football team, was sergeant at arms of the student council, chairman of the Interschool council, president of the Keats Literary society, member of the track team and of the Lettermen's club, and was advertising manager of the Paseo Press. He attended Kansas City Junior College at Fayette, Mo. He was a member of the Memorial Christian Church.
Beside his wife and parents, he leaves an infant daughter, Charlann Fuller, 4 months old, of the home: a brother Allen Riggs Fuller, 3216 East Seventy-third street; and two grandparents, Mrs. W.G. Griffey, Excelsior Springs, Mo. and Mrs. Matilda Fuller, 3633 Benton boulevard.

Charles was served with the USAAF and lost his life when his plane, B17F 42-30367 "Flak Happy" 96th Bomber Group crashed near Neuscharrel, 15 miles SW of Bad Zwischenahn, Germany....

When arriving over the target the B-17 was shot down by Lt Heinz-Gunther Luck in an Fw-190A fighter out of JG-1 at Neuscharrel, Germany and only three were able to bailout. Seven crewmen were killed...
