Jennie and Alvin lived in the vacinity of Heilwood, PA for a year and a half. Alvin was a woodsman and taught school for one year. After moving to Indiana PA, he was employed by the Leather Factory, located at the corner of Third and Philadelphia Sreets. He then worked at the Indiana Foundry as an office employee. When the foundry closed, he was employed by the Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania) as a groundsman which also included the care of the greenhouse. His last employment was a clerk at Stewart's Hardware Store. Alvin became well acquainted with Alex Stewart's son, Jimmy Stewart, the movie actor. Alvin was a Scout Master, Troop 28, from 1924 to 1942. During those years there were 38 boys that became Eagle Scouts. Alvin's hobbies included gardening, bakin and quiliting. Each year at the Indiana County Fair, he entered a very large variety of canned vegatables, baked pies and cookies. He also entered his handmade quilts. Alvin won many first place prizes each year. He enjoyed making quilts and had his 100th quilt chanced off. Jennie enjoyed growing house plants. She was a good cook and enjoyed baking bread and pies. Jennie and Alvin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on 18 Aug 1956 with an open house at their home.
