Funeral Saturday for Henry Kahl
Henry Kahl 67, lifelong Remsen area farmer, died Wednesday, May 7 at St. Luke's Hospital, Sioux City. He had been a patient there for seven weeks.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church here. Rev. William Striepe of LeMars officiated. Burial was in the Remsen city cemetery. Military graveside rites were conducted by the V.F.W. and American Legion honor guard.
Mr. Kahl was born Dec. 31, 1912 at Remsen to Harry and Margaret (Grage) Kahl. He lived on the same farm in Henry township his entire life.
He served four years in the Army during World War II, in Austria, Germany, and France. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was not married.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Fritz (Emma) Behrens and Hulda Kahl of Remsen and a brother Harry (Bud) Kahl, also of Remsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Minnie Harvey and two brothers, Edward and William.
The Moeller funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
