ULYSSES — Gerald D. "Jerry, Slim" Anderson, 62, of Ulysses, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Sept. 9, 1949, in Ulysses, to James Harold and Libby Marie Thornton Anderson. He graduated from Ulysses High School.
Mr. Anderson was the owner of Anderson Motor Company and Anderson Automotive (NAPA) before retiring in 2007.
In January 2003, he married Sonia Alvarez. She survives. Other survivors include three stepchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four brothers, Jim, Steve and Bill Anderson, all of Ulysses, and Leon Anderson of St. Louis; and a sister, Patty Shapland of Ulysses. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to the Historic Adobe Museum or Country View Baptist Church, both in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
