PRINCETON, LA - Services for Benjamin Dow Burney, Jr. will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Kent Greer. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. until service time.
Dow was born January 20, 1949 in Hattiesburg, MS and died August 15, 2012 in Princeton, LA. He retired from the Bossier Parish School Board as a plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local #141.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin "Big Boy" and Florene Burney.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Doucet Burney of Princeton, LA; son, Benjamin Dow Burney, III of Stonewall, LA; daughters Brandi Harlow of Lewis Center, OH, Heather Carter of Princeton, LA; grandchildren, Ian and Gracie Harlow of Lewis Center, OH, Morgan, Anastasia and Noah Burney of Stonewall, LA and Hannah Carter of Princeton, LA and sisters, Lois Nelson and Misheal Burney of Bossier City, LA and Tyrene Schutzenhofer of Stafford, VA.
The family requests memorials to the Belcher Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 206, Belcher, LA 71004 or to St. Joseph Hospice, 668 Jordan St., Shreveport, LA 71101.
