Death came Sunday afternoon to John Klink, a resident of O'Brien county for more than half a century: Mr. Klink had been in failing health for several yeans and had been confined to his home for the past several months.
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Congregational Church with the Rev. R. Beebe, former pastor of the church officiating.
Pallbearers were R.J. Locke, Dr. Wm. Anderson, A.J. McCauley, Emil Olander, Claus Peterson and Ed Gere
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery
John August Klink, second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Klink, was born on a farm near Gladbrook, Iowa, March 30, 1873 and he passed away at his home in Primghar, July 27, 1941 at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 27 days.
In 1880, when he was seven years old, he moved with his parents to O'Brien County to the farm now occupied by his brother will; and he lived here continuously since that time, thus spending 56 years in this vicinity.
On March 24, 1901, he married Louise Franzen and they became the parents of two daughters, Mabel, now Mrs. Pete Vollink, and Alice, now Mrs. Will Luhrs. Unfortunately, however, Mrs. Klink passed away August 2, 1903
During his young manhood John helped his father on the farm after his marriage he farmed for one year himself, cultivating the quarter section just east of his fathers home. Then he sold his farm to his Brother August and moved to Primghar and went into business, continuing his active business life until July 8, 1936 when failing health compelled him to become less active.
After fourteen years of widowhood, John found a devoted companion in Emma Peterson, who became his wife December 27, 1917. She shared with him every burden and every success and then brightened the closing months of his life by her faithful sacrificial service. Joy and sorrow came to the home with birth of a daughter, Norma Carol, who delighted them for almost five years and then was suddenly taken from them, August 23, 1925.
During his active business career John was interested in improving the city in every way he could and two brick structures stand as evidence of this foresight and of his faith in the community
He is survived by his wife and his two daughters, Mrs. Pete Vollink and Mrs. Will Luhrs; four grandchildr4en, Anna Marie Vollink and Arlys, Billie and Jimmy Luhrs. In addition to these members of his immediate family, he leaves three brothers, Will, Albert and Adolph Klink, 13 nephews and nieces whom he held almost as dear as his own children and other relatives. Many friends, his associates in business and pleasure for many years, will also miss him.
