Childress – Funeral services for Sim K. Vaughn, age 59, were held Saturday, December 30th at 2 p.m. in the Childress Church of Christ with Auther Judd, minister, officiating, assisted by Bill Craig, minister of the Church of Christ in Elk City, Okla. Interment was held in the Childress Cemetery under the direction of Newberry Funeral Home. Mr. Vaughn was rushed to the Childress General hospital at 1;30 a.m. by the Childress Ambulance Service suffering from an apparent stroke. He died at 10;25 a.m. the same morning. Born September 20, 1913. in Erick Oklahoma, Mr. Vaughn came to Childress in 1948 from Erick. He and Fay Eatherly worked together in Erick where Mr. Eatherly was manager of the Coop Gin there and Mr. Vaughn was the assistant manager for 10 years. Mr. Vaughn supervised the building of the elevator of the Eatherly Cotton Co. and was partners with Mr. Eatherly until he went to work for the First State Bank in 1963. He was a past elder of the Church of Christ, a director of the First State Bank, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Four Winds Resource Conservation and Development Area Executive Board and was honored in 1971 for his outstanding work done for Soil Conservation. He is survived by his wife, Audie, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Perry Morren of Childress, Mrs. Jerry Williamson of Hondo and Mrs. Keith Fanning of Hereford, one brother, Richard Vaughn of Sand Springs, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Tommy O'Connell of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. R. W. McCampbell of Erick, Oklahoma and Mrs. H. T. Vandemeer of Oklahoma City, Okla; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Eddie Johnson, Teddy Hightower, Bud Gooch, Houston Wrinkle, Joe Cooper, Don Miller and Van Bearden. Honorary pallbearers were C. R. Jones, Fay Eatherly, Clarence Smith, James Hassell, Roy Key, Keith Pitner, Cecil Park, Dr. L. W. McClendon, Rayford Holtman, Robert Carter, Clarence Harp, C. A. Williams and Ned Garrison..
