G.A.R Veteran Laid to Rest

The funeral of Charles Gee, the aged Grand Army veteran who died at his home on South Main Street Saturday morning was held at the Grand Army Hall yesterday afternoon. The unusually large audience attested to the esteem and high regard for the Civil War hero who laid in a casket draped with an American flag and banked with many beautiful floral tributes from friends and patriotic orders.

The service was in charge of the Rev. T.H. Horsfield, pastor of the Universalist Church, who paid an eloquent tribute to Mr. Gee as a loyal citizen and Christian gentleman many calling appropriate attention to his many fine qualities mind and heart and the esteem in which those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance regarded him.

The burial was in the family plot in the cemetery at Concord. The bearers were neighbors and intimate friends, Dr. T.J. Welfast and Fred F Pierce.

Among the relatives present in addition to the immediate family of his daughter, Mrs. Laura H Lewis with whom he made his home and where he has been lovingly ministered to during his decling years were his son, George Gee of Boston and cousins Daniel M. Smith and Mrs Addie Webb both of East Concord. Nearly every surviving member of Chamberlain Post, G.A.R. was present as well as a large delegation from Chamberlain Relief Corps, the American Legion and the Sons and Daughters of Veterans.
