Reca Williams , age 91, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed this life Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center in Muskogee. She was born May 23, 1918 in Nevada, Missouri to John Bernard and Sarah Leon (Murphy) Rogers. Reca completed her first three years of school in Nevada before moving with her family to Excelsior Springs, Missouri where she lived until she graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1936. After Graduating she continued her education at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, University of New Mexico at Santa Fe. and then completed her formal education and receiving her Specialty Degree in Education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. She worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Iowa during most of her working years. Reca and Alvin (Al) Bruce Williams were married on April 11, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After they were married they made their home in Cherokee, Iowa and had fifty-two wonderful years together. Reca was a very active member of the Saint Paul United Methodist Church. She was a seventy year member of P.E.O., sixty- five year member of Eastern Star and fifty year member of A.A.U.W. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts and was an avid Bridge player. In 2008 Reca and Al decided to move to Muskogee to be closer to family. While living in Muskogee she has been a member of the First United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents John and Sarah Rogers. Survivors include her husband Al Williams of Muskogee, Oklahoma, two sons and their wives. Three grandchildren. One Great Grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rusty Williams officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa or First United Methodist Church of Muskogee. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Muskogee Cremation and Funeral Service, 1325 No. York, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
