Daniel E. Lyon, according to"Grave stone calculator" would have been born January 23, 1840. During the Civil War, he was a 1st Lt. of Co. H 16th Regiment of the Michigan Infantry volunteer. Having been wounded 3 different times and discharged due to disability. He married Mary Coryell October 5, 1865. They farmed in in several locations in Michigan. In October 1872 the family moved to a farm in Sherman Township, Dickinson county, Kansas. Enduring the hardships of early Kansas pioneer life. The Grasshopper plagues, heat and droughts. March 7, 1876 Daniel died and was buried on the family farm in Dickinson county, Kansas. In 1924 at the time of his wife, Mary's death his body was removed to Highland cemetery in Junction City. With the notation in the cemetery record book, "Accident".
