Henry Lay Stanley, 81, of Rocky Point passed peacefully from his earthly life on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 19, 1921 in Brunswick County, the son of the late William Daily and Pearlie Elizabeth Milligan Stanley.

Henry is survived by his daughter, Emmie Sparkman (Jackie) of Rocky Point; sons, John Stanley (Maryanne) of Rose Hill and Paul Stanley of Harrells; grandchildren, Elizabeth Guion, Charles Sloan, Rachel Sloan, and Emmie Stanley; and great grandchildren, Christopher Guion, Johnathan Guion, Connor Guion, Matthew Sloan and Keira Sloan.

Henry lived a simple, but fruitful life overcoming his greatest challenge, blindness. His legacy of hard work, strength and determination will long be remembered.

Graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Smith Family Cemetery in Brunswick County with The Rev. Jack Melvin officiating.
