Nancy (Kramer) Kunz, 58, of rural Augusta passed away suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, due to complications following surgery.
Nancy Jane Kunz, daughter of Clarence and Geraldine (Wilson) Kramer, was born Feb. 22, 1954, in Elk Mound and lived most of her life in the Fall Creek and Augusta area.
In 1983, through an arranged "blind date," Nancy met Duane "Dewey" Kunz during pool league at the Hideaway Bar. They have been together ever since and were united in marriage on May 12, 1984, at St. John the Apostle Church in Fall Creek. The couple made their home on the Kunz family farm, rural Augusta. Nancy had been employed for two years by Finley Engineering in Eau Claire, before taking a job as a telephone operator in 1978 with Wisconsin Bell, currently ATT. She retired from ATT in 2008. Since her retirement she had worked as a cook for Jenny Dewitz at Grandma D's in Fall Creek and at the Beaver Bowl in Augusta. Nancy had several enjoyable pastimes which included; bowling, cooking, quilting, stamping, canning, cake and cookie decorating, flower and vegetable gardening. Many folks were lucky recipients of Nancy's creative artistry and crafts.
Nancy was a member of St. Raymond's Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She looked forward to helping with their spaghetti dinner and even provided her own special recipe. Nancy was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and participated in many of their activities.
Nancy loved her family and was a dedicated caregiver to her mother, Geraldine, for the past two years. She especially enjoyed the hours of fun spent with her nieces and nephews. She loved planning activities and doing crafts with them to bring out their creative energy. Nancy will be sorely missed by all her dear family and friends, whose lives she touched so dearly.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Duane "Dewey" Kunz of Augusta; mother, Geraldine Kramer of Fall Creek; three brothers, Charles (Lana) Kramer of Fall Creek, Mark (Sue) Kramer of Eau Claire, Kevin Kramer of Junction City, KS; four sisters, Connie Kramer of Madison, Mary (Paul) Mettler of New Richmond, Karen (Scott) Guenard of Superior, Robin Kramer of Green Bay; mother-in-law, Gayle Kunz of Augusta; and Dewey's siblings, Cheryl (Don) Hayman of Ottawa, IL, Alan (Susan) Kunz of Eau Claire, Joy (Doug) Wirtz of Marshfield, Brian (Barbara) Kunz, Jeffery (Dana) Kunz, and Gregory (Heidi) Kunz, all of Augusta. She also has many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews and cherished friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Kramer; and father-in-law, Wesley Kunz.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St Raymond's Catholic Church, rural Fall Creek, with Father Derek Sakowski officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
