Fredda W. French-Ackles was my grandmother, married on 8 Oct 1927 to Estus Bruce Ackles in Wenatchee, Chelan Co. WA. They met in an apple orchard in Wenatchee married three days latter. This marriage was a 50 year marriage until my grandfather died in 1978 of cancer. Fredda was born on the French Brother's farm in Auburn, King Co. WA. Fredda lost both of her parents, her father before she was even born who was Frederick William French, and her mother Fannie Lochridge-French. Her sister Ruth died in 1924, her brother Norman in 1926 and her brother George in 1975 all due to heart problems, Maurice died of cancer in 1971,and her long lost brother Harold Lockridge French in 1977 (California).
Fredda was a very quiet woman, long on patients and very loving towards her family. She loved to read books, garden and fish with her best friend and husband. Grandma made the best home made bread, rolls and pie! You could smell her bread from a mile away and the bread would melt in your mouth and her pie crusts would do the same thing, remembering them brings tears to my eyes but knowing they are in a much better place makes it seem alright. Grandfather never wanted us to fuss over their graves, but fuss I do...LOL.
Fredda's memorial plaque is now missing and has been for a year! Greenwood replaced this plaque with a cemetery one with birth and death years.
Her children are:
Mary Ann Ackles b. 1929 d. 2003
Betty Louise Ackles b. 1935
Barbara Jean b. 1937 d. 2007
Ronald Bruce b. 1945
