FAIRMONT — Harry S. Adams Jr., 92, who was a longtime resident at Tygart Center in Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Jan. 2, 2011) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born April 26, 1918 in Fairmont, a son of the late Harry S. and Georgia B. Bowman Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara A. Prickett Adams, who passed away in 1991.

He was a 1936 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. Following his graduation in 1936, he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II in France, where he was wounded in combat.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Dr. David Prickett Jr. of Kearney, Mo., Rebecca Replogle of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Dr. William Prickett of Las Cruces, N.M., Mary Anne Newman of Morgantown, James Prickett of Whittier, Calif., and Sara Gallegos of Whittier, Calif.

He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dr. David Prickett Sr. of Whittier, Calif.

He was also preceded in death by a cousin, Violet Hamilton.

Graveside services will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont at 1 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the Marion County Humane Society, Old Whiterock Road, Rt. 19, Box 31A, Fairmont, WV 26554. Military funeral rites will be conducted at graveside by the Marion County Veterans Council.
