Son of Lewis and Elizabeth Remington Warriner, Lewis led a prominent and tragic life.
Lewis spent his early years in West Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts.
He married 1st, Frances "Fanny" Wilson, daughter of Martin and Catherine Dewey Wilson, on 5 June, 1817, in West Springfield.
Lewis and Fanny were the parents of 2 sons: Sylvester Wilson and Lewis Franklin Warriner.
Fanny died on 2 December, 1821 in Agawam, where her parents lived.
Lewis remarried on 8 April, 1824 to Sabra Grout, daughter of Elijah and Milicent Baldwin Grout. During the next 10 years, Lewis and Sabra had 3 children: Edwin Baldwin, Fannie Catherine and Sabra.
Lewis and Sabra were members of the Agawam Baptist Church in West Springfield.
On the 1830 census of West Springfield, Hampden, Mass, Lewis has: 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-9, 1 male 10-14, 1 male 30-39 and 1 female 30-39. Apparently sons Sylvester and Lewis where still living with him.
By the late 1830's they had moved to Cedar Lake, Lake, Indiana.
On 9 Nov. 1837, he located to the east side of Red Cedar Lake and was listed on the Methodist church registry as being from Agawam, Massachusetts.
On 17 June, 1838, Lewis and his wife Sabra helped form the First Baptist Society of Lake County.
Prior to his move to Indiana, Lewis was a prominent member of Massachusetts society, having served four times in the State Assembly.
In 1838, death again hit his life. His wife Sabra and young daughter Sabra both died.
In 1838, he was appointed postmaster of the Crown Point to West Creek route. He continued this position until 1849, and a second term from 1852 until 1856.
He was elected as the Lake and Porter counties representative in 1839.
On the 1840 census, Lake, Indiana, Lewis has: 1 male 10-14, 1 male 40-49, 1 female 5-9.
He was a Lake county census taker for the US government in 1840, calculating the county population at 1468 residence.
On the 1850 census, Lewis is living with: son Edwin, daughter Fanny and Thomas L. Hunt, Baptist Clergy, and his wife Julia Ann and daughter Martha Hunt.
Daughter Fanny married James A. Hunt, Thomas' brother.
In 1856, he moved to Prairie Grove, Fayette, Arkansas to live with his son-in-law James and daughter Fanny.
