Helen was born July 1, 1921, in Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Dick and Tracy (Vellinga) Freriks. She was united in marriage to Randall S Stover on June 7th, 1941 in Hospers. When Randall was called to serve in WWII, Helen moved to Holland, Michigan where she worked in support of the war effort. In 1946 they moved to Le Mars to purchase and run the ice plant at 201 4th Avenue NE, near the fair grounds. With the onset of refrigeration in the late 1950s, the ice business gave way to an ice and roller skating rink, followed by an appliance business at the same location. Finally, in the early 1970s, they began Stover's Furniture which they operated until their retirement in 1992. Helen was a member of Presbyterian United Church of Christ and a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, William, of Grand Rapids, Michigan and his wife Carol; three daughters, Randa DeVos of Corsicana, Texas and her husband William; Debra Sitzmann of Grayson, Georgia and her husband Arnold; Terri Stover-Cramer of De Forest, Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren and 21 great grand-children; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Lynn Freriks of LeMars, Vernon Freriks of Fresno, CA and Ruth Stover of Hospers; one brother-in-law Don De Jager of LeMars; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Randall and an infant daughter; her parents, Dick and Tracy (Vellinga) Freriks; a son-in-law, Terry Stover-Cramer; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Don and Marge Freriks, Bob and Maxine Freriks, and Beulah Freriks; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mae and Webb Mouw, Margaret and John Bloemendaal and Norma De Jager.
