Lawyer, Judge. A native of Massachusetts, Wallis went to California in 1849 following the Gold Rush and eventually settled in Mayfield where he practiced law. From 1859 until 1860 he served as an associate judge on the Court of Sessions of Santa Clara County and later served in the California State Senate from 1862 until 1863. He was the husband of suffrage leader Sarah Wallis and step-father of California State Librarian Talbot Wallis.
