Mary Francis Pruitt was born in Taney county, April 11, 1875 {to John Monroe & Margaret Florence (Coffer) Cook}, and passed away Jan. 30, 1945. She was first married to Jesse Melton and to this union were born three children. She later united in marriage with Dave Pruitt of Union City, MO. She was converted some 28 years ago and united with the Baptist church of Ponce de Leon, Mo. Surviving are the husband, Dave; son, Hershel Melton; 2 daughters, Erma Cross and Mrs. Lon Gold; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 6 brothers, Elic Cook, Sherman Cook, Garfield, Fred, Harrison, and W.D. Cook.
Burial in the Selmore cemetery.
